Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Review 2026 (RNLI)

Reliable Nepal Life Insurance posted the largest year-on-year claim-settlement improvement of any of Nepal’s 14 life insurers in FY 2081/82 – rising from 96.47% to 97.92% on our derived measure, a gain of 1.45 points – which places it #5 of 14. Its pipeline is notably clean (very little claim value left outstanding at year-end) and its endowment base rate is among the lower ones in our data. This review covers its plans, how reliably it pays, and who it suits.

Claim Settlement Ratio: The Market’s Biggest Improver

An honest note on the number first. The NIA does not publish a per-company “claim settlement ratio.” It publishes claims paid and claims outstanding for each insurer, and the 97.92% here is a ratio we derive from those (claims paid divided by claims paid plus outstanding). It is amount-based and excludes rejected claims.

On that measure Reliable had the best story of FY 2081/82: it rose 1.45 points year on year – the largest gain of any of the 14 insurers – to 97.92%, placing it #5. What stands out is how little it leaves pending: of about Rs. 147 crore in total claim value, only around Rs. 3 crore sat outstanding at year-end (roughly 2%), so very little claim value is stuck in the queue. As always, an amount-based ratio cannot show settlement speed, so it is still fair to ask about timelines – but on the numbers the NIA reports, Reliable’s trend and pipeline are both strong.

Plans Available (FY 2081/82)

Endowment: Reliable Endowment Life Insurance (flagship)

Its main savings-plus-protection plan, and one of around eight endowment plans it sells. It pays the sum assured plus accumulated bonus at maturity, or the full sum assured to your nominee on death during the term. See the full list on Reliable Nepal Life’s own site.

  • Endowment bonus (FY 2081/82): Rs. 25 to Rs. 75 per 1,000 sum assured per year (across its endowment plans)
  • Riders available: Accident, Disability
  • Policy loan: Yes, after 3 years  |  Surrender: Yes

Term: Group and Employer Cover

Reliable’s listed term products are group and employer plans – a Reliable Group Term Life plan and a Surakshit Plus plan, both built to meet Labour Act employee-protection requirements – rather than a standalone individual term policy. If you specifically want individual term cover, confirm availability and pricing directly with the company.

Whole Life: Reliable Endowment and Whole Life

An endowment-cum-whole-life plan that combines lifelong cover with a savings benefit. Its declared bonus for FY 2081/82 is Rs. 30 to Rs. 50 per 1,000 – note this is lower than the endowment range, not higher, so do not assume the whole-life plan pays a bigger bonus.

Money Back: Anticipated and Periodic-Return Plans

Reliable sells several money-back style plans: the Reliable Anticipated Plan (guaranteed periodic refunds over a 10 to 20 year term while life cover stays active), Reliable Dhanapati (target wealth accumulation with guaranteed returns), and Reliable Samunnati (a return every four years through the term). All keep full life cover in force during the term.

A Note on Bonus Rates

Reliable declared an endowment bonus of Rs. 25 to Rs. 75 per 1,000 sum assured for FY 2081/82, spread across its endowment plans (dual-sourced from Beemapost and the company’s own declaration), with Rs. 30 to Rs. 50 on its endowment-and-whole-life policies. That is a mid-range endowment rate. The range is wide because it spans several plans, so the headline figure is not what any single policy pays – confirm the bonus for the specific plan you are buying.
